Astanga Hrudaya
कनीनकमुपानीय चतुर्भागावशेषितम् । छिन्द्यात्कनीनकं रक्षेद्वाहिनीश्चाश्रुवाहिनीः ॥ १८ ॥
The muscle should be released from below, and the cut end is pulled towards the inner canthus. Quarter of it (muscle) should be left to remain in its place, the inner canthus and tear ducts being protected (not injured during cutting).
