तीक्ष्णोष्णं कटुकं पाके रुच्यं पित्ताग्निवर्धनम् | कटु श्लेष्मानिलहरं गन्धाढ्यं जीरकद्वयम् ||२२९||

1. Cumin (Jeeraka) is sharp, hot, and pungent in its effects, and it enhances the taste. 2. It stimulates Pitta (bile) and Agni (digestive fire), alleviates Kapha (mucus) and Vata (wind), and has a fragrant aroma. 3. It is beneficial in digestion and helps in overcoming digestive disorders.

english translation

1. जीरक (जीरा) तीखा, गर्म, और तीखा प्रभाव वाला होता है, और इसका स्वाद बढ़ाता है। 2. यह पित्त (पित्त) और अग्नि (पाचन अग्नि) को उत्तेजित करता है, कफ (म्यूकस) और वात (वायु) को कम करता है, और सुगंधित होता है। 3. यह पाचन में लाभकारी होता है और पाचन विकारों को दूर करने में मदद करता है।
