ग्राम्यानूपौदकानां च वसामेदोमज्जानो गुरूष्णमधुरा वातघ्नाः, जाङ्गलैकशफक्रव्यादादीनां लघुशीतकषाया रक्तपित्तघ्नाः, प्रतुदविष्किराणां श्लेष्मघ्नाः । तत्र घृततैलवसामेदोमज्जानो यथोत्तरं गुरुविपाका वातहराश्च ॥१३१॥

The fat, marrow, and oils of animals from villages, marshy lands, and aquatic regions are heavy, hot, sweet, and pacify Vata dosha. The fat from animals of dry lands, hoofed animals, and carnivorous animals are light, cool, astringent, and alleviate blood disorders and Pitta dosha. The fats of birds like those that strike with their beaks are helpful in reducing Kapha. Among ghee, oil, fat, marrow, and flesh, the order of increasing heaviness and difficulty in digestion is mentioned, and they are all beneficial for reducing Vata dosha.

ग्राम्य, अनुप और जलचर जानवरों की चर्बी, मेद और मज्जा भारी, गर्म, मीठी और वातनाशक होती है। जंगली, एकाशफ, और मांसाहारी जानवरों की चर्बी हल्की, ठंडी, कषाय और रक्त व पित्तनाशक होती है। प्रतुद और विष्किर पक्षियों की चर्बी कफनाशक होती है। घी, तेल, चर्बी, मज्जा और मांस में क्रमशः भारीपन और कठिन पाचन की वृद्धि बताई गई है, और ये सभी वात को शांत करने वाले होते हैं।

इति तैलवर्गः । अथ मधुवर्गः । मधु तु मधुरं कषायानुरसं रूक्षं शीतमग्निदीपनं वर्ण्यं स्वर्यं लघु सुकुमारं लेखनं हृद्यं वाजीकरणं सन्धानं शोधनं रोपणं(सङ्ग्राहि ) चक्षुष्यं प्रसादनं सूक्ष्ममार्गानुसारि पित्तश्लेष्ममेदोमेहहिक्काश्वासकासातिसारच्छर्दितृष्णाकृमिविषप्रशमनं ह्लादि त्रिदोषप्रशमनं च; तत्तु लघुत्वात् कफघ्नं, पैच्छिल्यान्माधुर्यात् कषायभावाच्च वातपित्तघ्नम् ॥१३२॥

Thus concludes the section on oils. Now begins the section on honey. Honey is sweet, slightly astringent, dry, and cool. It stimulates digestion, improves complexion, enhances the voice, is light and delicate, acts as a scraper (removing excess fat), is pleasing to the heart, promotes virility, aids in joining fractures, purifies and heals wounds, improves vision, and clears pathways within the body. It alleviates conditions related to Pitta, Kapha, fat, diabetes, hiccups, asthma, cough, diarrhea, vomiting, excessive thirst, worms, and poison. It is refreshing and balances the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha). Due to its lightness, it is particularly effective in reducing Kapha, while its slippery nature, sweetness, and slight astringency make it effective against Vata and Pitta.

इस प्रकार तैल वर्ग समाप्त होता है। अब मधु वर्ग का वर्णन है। मधु मीठा, हल्का कसैला, रूक्ष और शीतल होता है। यह अग्नि को तीव्र करता है, रंग में सुधार करता है, स्वर को मधुर बनाता है, हल्का और नाजुक होता है, शरीर से अतिरिक्त वसा को हटाता है, हृदय के लिए लाभकारी होता है, वीर्य वृद्धि करता है, हड्डियों को जोड़ने में सहायक होता है, शुद्धि और घावों की चिकित्सा करता है, आँखों के लिए लाभकारी होता है, और शरीर के सूक्ष्म मार्गों को शुद्ध करता है। यह पित्त, कफ, मेद, मधुमेह, हिचकी, श्वास, खांसी, अतिसार, वमन, प्यास, कृमि और विष को शांत करता है। यह ताजगी देने वाला और त्रिदोषनाशक होता है। इसकी हल्केपन की वजह से यह कफनाशक होता है, और चिकनाई, मिठास तथा कसैलेपन के कारण वात और पित्त का भी शमन करता है।

पौत्तिकं भ्रामरं क्षौद्रं माक्षिकं छात्रमेव च । आर्घ्यमौद्दालकं दालमित्यष्टौ मधुजातयः ॥१३३॥

There are eight types of honey: Pouttika, Bhramara, Kshaudra, Makshika, Chatra, Arghya, Auddalaka, and Dala.

विशेषात्पौत्तिकं तेषु रूक्षोष्णं सविषान्वयात् । वातासृक्पित्तकृच्छेदि विदाहि मदकृन्मधु ॥१३४॥

Among these, Pouttika honey is particularly dry and hot, mixed with toxins, causing disturbances in Vata, blood, and Pitta, and producing burning sensations and intoxication.

पैच्छिल्यात् स्वादुभूयस्त्वाद्भ्रामरं गुरुसञ्ज्ञितम् । क्षौद्रं विशेषतो ज्ञेयं शीतलं लघु लेखनम् ॥१३५॥

Due to its slimy nature and predominant sweetness, Bhramara honey is considered heavy. Kshaudra honey, in particular, is known to be cooling, light, and able to cleanse.
