सत्यधर्मपरो यश्च स भिषक् पाद उच्यते | आयुष्मान् सत्त्ववान् साध्यो द्रव्यवानात्मवानपि ||२१||

A physician who is devoted to truth and righteousness is called a 'four-footed' physician. Such a physician is blessed with longevity, strength, and is adept in medicinal substances and self-discipline.

जो वैद्य सत्य और धर्म के प्रति समर्पित होता है, उसे 'चार पांव वाला' वैद्य कहा जाता है। ऐसा वैद्य दीर्घायु, बलशाली होता है और औषधियों तथा आत्म-अनुशासन में कुशल होता है।

आस्तिको वैद्यवाक्यस्थो व्याधितः पाद उच्यते | प्रशस्तदेशसम्भूतं प्रशस्तेऽहनि चोद्धृतम् ||२२||

A physician who adheres to the principles of the scriptures and acts in accordance with the medical teachings is considered a 'four-footed' physician. He is well-versed in the practice of medicine and performs his duties on an auspicious day, in a favorable region, and with proper regard for the time.

जो वैद्य शास्त्रों के सिद्धांतों का पालन करता है और चिकित्सा की शिक्षाओं के अनुसार कार्य करता है, उसे 'चार पांव वाला' वैद्य माना जाता है। वह चिकित्सा के अभ्यास में कुशल होता है और शुभ दिन, अनुकूल क्षेत्र में और उचित समय का सम्मान करते हुए अपने कर्तव्यों का पालन करता है।

युक्तमात्रं मनस्कान्तं गन्धवर्णरसान्वितम् | दोषघ्नमग्लानिकरमविकारि विपर्यये | समीक्ष्य दत्तं काले च भेषजं पाद उच्यते ||२३||

A medicine that is suitable, with the right mental focus, and possesses the appropriate qualities of smell, color, and taste; that is effective against doshas (imbalances), does not lose its potency, and is administered correctly according to the condition and time, is considered a proper medicine.

एक औषधि जो उपयुक्त हो, सही मानसिक एकाग्रता के साथ हो, और सुगंध, रंग और स्वाद की उचित विशेषताएँ रखती हो; जो दोषों (असंतुलनों) के खिलाफ प्रभावी हो, अपनी क्षमता नहीं खोती हो, और स्थिति और समय के अनुसार सही ढंग से दी जाती हो, उसे उचित औषधि माना जाता है।

स्निग्धोऽजुगुप्सुर्बलवान् युक्तो व्याधितरक्षणे | वैद्यवाक्यकृदश्रान्तः पादः परिचरः स्मृतः ||२४||

A physician who is gentle, does not show disgust, is strong, skilled in the care of the sick, and who, after performing his duties according to medical instructions, is not fatigued, is considered a good attendant.

एक वैद्य जो स्निग्ध हो, घृणा न करता हो, बलवान हो, रोगियों की देखभाल में कुशल हो, और जो चिकित्सा के निर्देशों के अनुसार कार्य करने के बाद थका हुआ न हो, उसे अच्छा परिचारक माना जाता है।
