एते पादाश्चिकित्सायाः कर्मसाधनहेतवः | गुणवद्भिस्त्रिभिः पादैश्चतुर्थो गुणवान् भिषक् ||१६||

These are the four essential factors for the practice of medicine: the physician, the patient, the medicine, and the nurse. Among them, the physician is considered most virtuous if he possesses all the three qualities of the aforementioned factors.

ये चिकित्सा के चार आवश्यक घटक हैं: वैद्य, रोगी, औषधि, और नर्स। इनमें, वैद्य को सबसे गुणी माना जाता है यदि उसमें उपर्युक्त तीन गुण होते हैं।
