यूका ललाटमायान्ति बलिं नाश्नन्ति वायसाः । येषां चापि रतिर्नास्ति यातारस्ते यमालयम् ॥२६॥

A patient whose forehead is covered with lice, whose offerings are not eaten by crows, or who does not find comfort in any position or place, is heading towards the mansions of the god of death.

जिस रोगी की माथे पर जूँ हैं, जिसकी भेंटें कौवे नहीं खाते, या जो किसी भी स्थिति या स्थान में आराम नहीं पाता, उसे मृत्यु की ओर बढ़ता मान लेना चाहिए।

A patient who is suffering from a combination of fever, dysentery, and swelling, and is enfeebled with diminished strength and flesh, is beyond the scope of treatment.

A patient with excessive hunger and thirst who cannot be satisfied with sweet, wholesome, and palatable food or drink should be regarded as having a fatal prognosis.

जिस रोगी को अत्यधिक भूख और प्यास हो और जिसे मीठा, स्वास्थ्यवर्धक, और स्वादिष्ट भोजन या पेय से भी तृप्ति न मिले, उसे मृत्यु की संभावना के रूप में देखा जाना चाहिए।
