द्विषच्छब्देषु रमते सुहृच्छब्देषु कुप्यति | न शृणोति च योऽकस्मात्तं ब्रुवन्ति गतायुषम् ||६||

The person who delights in the sounds of his enemies and becomes upset at the sounds of his friends, or who suddenly loses the ability to hear without any apparent reason, is considered to be nearing the end of life.

english translation

जो व्यक्ति अपने शत्रुओं की ध्वनियों में प्रसन्न होता है और अपने मित्रों की ध्वनियों से नाराज होता है, या जो अचानक सुनने की क्षमता खो देता है बिना किसी स्पष्ट कारण के, उसे जीवन के अंत के कगार पर माना जाता है।
