विपरीतेन गृह्णाति रसान् यश्चोपयोजितान् | उपयुक्ताः क्रमाद्यस्य रसा दोषाभिवृद्धये ||११||

The person who experiences the taste of substances in a reversed manner, where tastes that should normally be beneficial cause an increase in doshas (bodily humors), and those that should normally increase doshas result in their pacification, should be considered as nearing the end of life.

यस्य दोषाग्निसाम्यं च कुर्युर्मिथ्योपयोजिताः | यो वा रसान्न संवेत्ति गतासुं तं प्रचक्षते ||१२||

sanskrit

The person who experiences a reversal in the effects of tastes, where substances that should normally balance doshas (bodily humors) instead aggravate them, and who does not respond to the taste of substances in the usual manner, is considered as having an unfavorable prognosis.

सुगन्धं वेत्ति दुर्गन्धं दुर्गन्धस्य सुगन्धिताम् | गृह्णीते वाऽन्यथा गन्धं शान्ते दीपे च नीरुजः ||१३||

sanskrit

The person who perceives a foul odor as pleasant or a pleasant odor as foul, or who experiences an unusual perception of smells, or who does not feel discomfort even from the smell of an extinguished lamp wick, should be considered as having an unfavorable prognosis.

यो वा गन्धं न जानाति गतासुं तं विनिर्दिशेत् | द्वन्द्वान्युष्णहिमादीनि कालावस्था दिशस्तथा ||१४||

The person who does not recognize or perceive smells correctly, and who fails to distinguish between attributes such as heat and cold, or the conditions of different times and directions, should be considered as having an unfavorable prognosis.

विपरीतेन गृह्णाति भावानन्यांश्च यो नरः | दिवा ज्योतींषि यश्चापि ज्वलितानीव पश्यति ||१५||

The person who perceives things in a reversed manner or sees objects as if they were illuminated by light during the daytime, even when there is no such light, should be considered as having an unfavorable prognosis.
