There are twenty-four types of arteries that originate from the navel. Some say that the classification of arteries, nerves, and channels is based on their distinctions, stating that the variations in arteries themselves constitute the channels. However, this is not accurate, as the arteries and channels are indeed different entities. Why? Because of their distinct characteristics, their root causes, their specific functions, and the scriptural texts; indeed, due to their close proximity, they may appear similar, but they perform distinct functions and remain divided in their actions.

The ascending arteries carry distinct attributes of sound, touch, form, taste, smell, breath, exhalation, yawning, clarity, brightness, and various forms of weeping that sustain the body. These arteries reach the heart and are classified into three categories, totaling thirty. Among them, the two types carry the doshas of Vata, Pitta, Kapha, and blood essence in pairs, and eight types perceive sound, form, taste, and smell. Two types speak, two produce sounds, two facilitate sleeping, and two awaken. Additionally, there are two that carry tears and two that transport milk in women. These also transport the sperm of a man. Thus, the total number of these arteries, with their classifications, amounts to thirty. Through these, the upper parts of the body, including the abdomen, sides, back, chest, shoulders, neck, and arms, are sustained and nourished.
