आर्तवमपि त्रिभिर्दोषैः शोणितचतुर्थैः पृथग्द्वन्द्वैः समस्तैश्चोपसृष्टमबीजं भवति; तदपि दोषवर्णवेदनादिभिर्विज्ञेयम् । तेषु कुणपग्रन्थिपूतिपूयक्षीणमूत्रपुरीषप्रकाशमसाध्यं , साध्यमन्यच्चेति ॥५॥
Even the menstrual blood, when affected by the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and the fourth one, blood, either individually, in pairs, or all together, becomes non-productive (sterile). This too is recognized by the symptoms like discoloration, pain, etc., caused by the doshas. Among these, conditions involving dead tissue, tumors, putrid pus, diminished urine, and feces are incurable, while others are treatable.

यहां तक कि मासिक धर्म का रक्त भी, जब तीन दोषों (वात, पित्त, कफ) और चौथे दोष से प्रभावित होता है, तो रक्त, या तो व्यक्तिगत रूप से, जोड़े में, या सभी एक साथ, अनुत्पादक (बाँझ) हो जाता है। इसकी पहचान भी दोषों के कारण होने वाले मलिनकिरण, दर्द आदि लक्षणों से होती है। इनमें मृत ऊतक, ट्यूमर, सड़ा हुआ मवाद, कम मूत्र और मल से जुड़ी स्थितियां लाइलाज हैं, जबकि अन्य इलाज योग्य हैं।
