Specific symptoms of different types of fractures: A fracture where the bone is broken in the middle and bulges out like a knot is called Karkataka. A fracture where the bone projects upward like a horse's ear is called Ashvakarna. When the bone is shattered and makes a creaking sound upon touch, it is known as Churnita. A bone that is smashed and swollen, is termed Piccita. When the bone has splintered on both sides, leaving a gap in the middle, it is called Asthi-challita. A broken bone that moves or quivers when touched is referred to as Kanda-Bhagna. When a bone fragment penetrates into the marrow, it is called Majjanugata. A completely severed bone is termed Atipatita. A bent but not completely severed bone is called Vakra. When only one side of the bone is fractured, it is termed Chhinna. A bone that is deeply torn into multiple pieces with intense pain is called Patita.
