दर्वीकरा मण्डलिनो राजिमन्तश्च पन्नगाः | तेषु दर्वीकरा ज्ञेया विंशतिः षट् च पन्नगाः ||११||

The serpents with round bodies, those with circular markings, and the serpents with markings resembling a royal diadem are to be known. Among them, the serpents with round bodies are twenty in number, and six are the serpents with other distinct markings.

The serpents with circular markings and those with royal markings are twenty-two in number. The non-venomous serpents are twelve, and the serpents with dark markings (resembling black dye) are three in number.

The serpents that originate from the plant Vaikaranja are seven in number. They are of a spotted variety, with circular markings. These serpents may become harmful if touched by the feet, or if they are angry, or if they are seeking to devour their prey.

ते दशन्ति महाक्रोधास्त्रिविधं भीमदर्शनाः | सर्पितं रदितं चापि तृतीयमथ निर्विषम् | सर्पाङ्गाभिहतं केचिदिच्छन्ति खलु तद्विदः ||१४||

They are ten in number, exhibiting great anger, and have three terrifying forms. The first is the serpent with venom, the second is the one with a rattle, and the third is the harmless one. Some of them, knowledgeable in this matter, wish to strike at the serpent's body.

Where the feet, whether one, two, or many, are submerged and the teeth are slightly bloody, those are the ones that, when provoked, cause harm.
