Now, comforting the patient afflicted with disease, who has been weakened by the consumption of food, drained of doshas, and whose body is slightly emaciated, and who has a perspiring body, one should assure them by providing a well-prepared offering with a prayer for auspiciousness. After that, with strength and assurance, the patient should be seated firmly on a mat, with their body upright, knees bent, and clothing properly arranged. The limbs should be firmly bound with a thread or cloth. Then, with a firm grip, the physician should press the left side of the abdomen, below the navel, with their fist, while the patient is bending forward, until they feel the sensation of stones in the abdomen. Next, applying gentle pressure to the middle of the left foot with the left hand, one should take hold of the foot and pull it gradually, while applying steady force to the lower abdomen until it is filled and firm, as if creating a knot.
