अस्निग्धस्विन्नेन रूक्षौषधमुपयुक्तमब्रह्मचारिणा वा वायुं कोपयति, तत्र वायुः प्रकुपितः पार्श्वपृष्ठश्रोणिमन्यामर्मशूलं मूर्च्छां भ्रमं मदं सञ्ज्ञानाशं च करोति, तं वातशूलमित्याचक्षते; तमभ्यज्य धान्यस्वेदेन स्वेदयित्वा यष्टीमधुकविपक्वेन तैलेनानुवासयेत् ||९||

An oily, warm substance, when combined with dry herbs and taken by a celibate, can provoke vāta. In this case, the aggravated vāta causes pain in the sides, back, hips, and vital points, leading to fainting, confusion, intoxication, and loss of consciousness. This condition is referred to as vāta pain. To treat this, one should use swedana (sweating) with a mixture of grains and apply a paste made from licorice and mature oil.
