दोषाः क्षीणा बृंहयितव्याः, कुपिताः प्रशमयितव्याः, वृद्धा निर्हर्तव्याः, समाः परिपाल्या इति सिद्धान्तः ॥३॥
The doshas that are diminished should be rejuvenated, those that are aggravated should be pacified, the increased ones should be removed, and the balanced ones should be preserved.

जो दोष कम हो गए हैं उन्हें पुनर्जीवित करना चाहिए, जो बढ़ गए हैं उन्हें शांत करना चाहिए, जो बढ़ गए हैं उन्हें दूर करना चाहिए, तथा जो संतुलित हैं उन्हें बनाए रखना चाहिए।

अथातुरं स्निग्धं स्विन्नमभिष्यन्दिभिराहारैरनवबद्धदोषमवलोक्य श्वो वमनं पाययिताऽस्मीति सम्भोजयेत्तीक्ष्णाग्निं बलवन्तं बहुदोषं महाव्याधिपरीतं वमनसात्म्यं च ॥५॥
Observing a patient who is oily and sweating, with a non-obstructed dosha due to the intake of unctuous and excessive food, one should say that tomorrow, vomiting will be administered. This is for a patient with sharp digestion, strong constitution, multiple doshas, and afflicted by a great disease, considering the suitability of vomiting.

जो रोगी तैलीय, पसीने से तर हो, तथा जिसका मल अधिक मात्रा में तथा चिकनाई युक्त भोजन करने के कारण दोष अवरुद्ध न हो, उसे देखकर कहना चाहिए कि कल उल्टी कराई जाएगी। यह बात तीव्र पाचन, दृढ़ शारीरिक संरचना, अनेक दोषों से युक्त तथा महान रोग से ग्रस्त रोगी के लिए उल्टी की उपयुक्तता को ध्यान में रखकर कही गई है।
