अष्टावुदराणि पूर्वमुद्दिष्टानि । तेष्वसाध्यं बद्धगुदं परिस्रावि च; अवशिष्टानि कृच्छ्रसाध्यानि; सर्वाण्येव प्रत्याख्यायोपक्रमेत । तेष्वाद्यश्चतुर्वर्गो भेषजसाध्यः, उत्तरः शस्त्रसाध्यः, कालप्रकर्षात् सर्वाण्येव शस्त्रसाध्यानि वर्जयितव्यानि वा ॥३॥
Now, we will expound on the treatment of dropsy. Eight types of dropsy have been mentioned earlier. Among these, those with a blocked rectum and having fluid retention are incurable; those with residual conditions that can be managed with difficulty should all be rejected from treatment. Among these, some can be treated with medicines (medications), while others can only be treated surgically. Due to time constraints, all should be excluded from surgical treatment.

उदरी तु गुर्वभिष्यन्दिरूक्षविदाहिस्निग्धपिशितपरिषेकावगाहान् परिहरेत्; शालिषष्टिकयवगोधूमनीवारान् नित्यमश्नीयात् ॥४॥
One should avoid the following for dropsy: heavy, irritating, hot, and oily foods, as well as those that cause excessive moistening. One should regularly consume rice, barley, wheat, and the like.

तत्र वातोदरिणं विदारिगन्धादिसिद्धेन सर्पिषास्नेहयित्वा, तिल्वकविपक्वेनानुलोम्य, चित्राफलतैलप्रगाढेन विदारिगन्धादिकषायेणास्थापयेदनुवासयेच्च, साल्वणेन चोपनाहयेदुदरं, भोजयेच्चैनं विदारिगन्धादिसिद्धेन क्षीरेण जाङ्गलरसेन च, स्वेदयेच्चाभीक्ष्णम् ॥५॥
For a patient suffering from abdominal dropsy, one should prepare a medicinal ghee with Vidārī, using well-ripened Tilva and the decoction of Vidārī and similar herbs, then administer it through enema. One should apply salt and give nourishment with the medicinal ghee prepared with Vidārī and milk, along with the juice of wild fruits. Additionally, one should induce sweating frequently.

जो व्यक्ति उदरवात से पीड़ित है, उसके लिए विदारी से एक औषधीय घी तैयार करना चाहिए, जिसमें पके हुए तिल्वक और विदारी तथा इसी प्रकार की जड़ी-बूटियों का काढ़ा उपयोग किया जाए, और फिर इसे एनिमा के द्वारा दिया जाए। उसे नमक लगाना चाहिए और विदारी से बने घी तथा दूध के साथ जंगली फलों का रस देकर पोषण देना चाहिए। इसके अलावा, उसे बार-बार स्वेद उत्पन्न करना चाहिए।
