सन्दह्यमानोऽजितशस्त्रवह्निना तत्पादमूले पतितः सवेपथुः । आहाच्युतानन्त सदीप्सित प्रभो कृतागसं माव हि विश्वभावन ॥ ९-४-६१ ॥
Durvāsā Muni, the great mystic, scorched by the heat of the Sudarśana cakra, fell at the lotus feet of Nārāyaṇa. His body trembling, he spoke as follows: O infallible, unlimited Lord, protector of the entire universe, You are the only desirable objective for all devotees. I am a great offender, my Lord. Please give me protection. ॥ 9-4-61 ॥

सुदर्शन चक्र की गर्मी से झुलसे हुए महान् योगी दुर्वासा मुनि नारायण के चरणकमलों पर गिर पड़े। काँपते शरीर से वे इस तरह बोले, “हे अच्युत, हे अनन्त, हे समस्त ब्रह्माण्ड के रक्षक, आप सभी भक्तों के अभीष्ट हैं। हे प्रभु, मैं महान् अपराधी हूँ। कृपया मुझे संरक्षण प्रदान करें।” ॥ ९-४-६१ ॥

अजानता ते परमानुभावं कृतं मयाघं भवतः प्रियाणाम् । विधेहि तस्यापचितिं विधातर्मुच्येत यन्नाम्न्युदिते नारकोऽपि ॥ ९-४-६२ ॥
O my Lord, O supreme controller, without knowledge of Your unlimited prowess I have offended Your most dear devotee. Very kindly save me from the reaction of this offense. You can do everything, for even if a person is fit for going to hell, You can deliver him simply by awakening within his heart the holy name of Your Lordship. ॥ 9-4-62 ॥

हे प्रभु, हे परम नियन्ता, मैंने आपकी असीम शक्ति समझे बिना आपके परम प्रिय भक्त के प्रति अपराध किया है। कृपया मुझे इस अपराध के फल से बचा लें। आप हर काम कर सकते हैं क्योंकि यदि कोई व्यक्ति नरक जाने के लायक हो, उसके भी हृदय में अपने पवित्र नाम को जगाकर आप उसका उद्धार कर सकते हैं। ॥ ९-४-६२ ॥

श्रीभगवानुवाच अहं भक्तपराधीनो ह्यस्वतन्त्र इव द्विज । साधुभिर्ग्रस्तहृदयो भक्तैर्भक्तजनप्रियः ॥ ९-४-६३ ॥
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said to the brāhmaṇa: I am completely under the control of My devotees. Indeed, I am not at all independent. Because My devotees are completely devoid of material desires, I sit only within the cores of their hearts. What to speak of My devotee, even those who are devotees of My devotee are very dear to Me. ॥ 9-4-63 ॥

भगवान् ने उस ब्राह्मण से कहा : मैं पूर्णत: अपने भक्तों के वश में हूँ। निस्सन्देह, मैं तनिक भी स्वतंत्र नहीं हूँ। चूँकि मेरे भक्त भौतिक इच्छाओं से पूर्णत: रहित होते हैं अतएव मैं उनके हृदयों में ही निवास करता हूँ। मुझे मेरे भक्त ही नहीं, मेरे भक्तों के भक्त भी अत्यन्त प्रिय हैं। ॥ ९-४-६३ ॥

नाहमात्मानमाशासे मद्भक्तैः साधुभिर्विना । श्रियं चात्यन्तिकीं ब्रह्मन् येषां गतिरहं परा ॥ ९-४-६४ ॥
O best of the brāhmaṇas, without saintly persons for whom I am the only destination, I do not desire to enjoy My transcendental bliss and My supreme opulences. ॥ 9-4-64 ॥
english translation
हे ब्राह्मणश्रेष्ठ, मैं उन साधुपुरुषों के बिना अपना दिव्य आनन्द तथा अपने परम ऐश्वर्यों का भोग नहीं करना चाहता जिनके लिए मैं ही एकमात्र गन्तव्य हूँ। ॥ ९-४-६४ ॥

ये दारागारपुत्राप्तान् प्राणान् वित्तमिमं परम् । हित्वा मां शरणं याताः कथं तांस्त्यक्तुमुत्सहे ॥ ९-४-६५ ॥
Since pure devotees give up their homes, wives, children, relatives, riches and even their lives simply to serve Me, without any desire for material improvement in this life or in the next, how can I give up such devotees at any time? ॥ 9-4-65 ॥

चूँकि शुद्ध भक्तगण इस जीवन में या अगले जीवन में किसी भौतिक उन्नति की इच्छा से रहित होकर अपने घर, पत्नियों, बच्चों, सम्बन्धियों, धन और यहाँ तक कि अपने जीवन का भी परित्याग, मात्र मेरी सेवा करने के लिए, करते हैं तो मैं ऐसे भक्तों को कभी भी किस तरह छोड़ सकता हूँ? ॥ ९-४-६५ ॥
