एवं सदा कर्मकलापमात्मनः परेऽधियज्ञे भगवत्यधोक्षजे । सर्वात्मभावं विदधन्महीमिमां तन्निष्ठविप्राभिहितः शशास ह ।। ९-४-२१ ।।

In performing his prescribed duties as king, Mahārāja Ambarīṣa always offered the results of his royal activities to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, who is the enjoyer of everything and is beyond the perception of material senses. He certainly took advice from brāhmaṇas who were faithful devotees of the Lord, and thus he ruled the planet earth without difficulty. ।। 9-4-21 ।।

english translation

राजा के रूप में अपने नियत कर्तव्यों का पालन करते हुए महाराज अम्बरीष अपने राजसी कार्यकलापों के फलों को सदैव भगवान् कृष्ण को अर्पित करते थे, जो प्रत्येक वस्तु के भोक्ता हैं और भौतिक इन्द्रियों के बोध के परे हैं। वे निश्चित रूप से निष्ठावान भगवद्भक्त ब्राह्मणों से सलाह लेते थे और इस प्रकार वे बिना किसी कठिनाई के पृथ्वी पर शासन करते थे। ।। ९-४-२१ ।।

ईजेऽश्वमेधैरधियज्ञमीश्वरं महाविभूत्योपचिताङ्गदक्षिणैः । ततैर्वसिष्ठासितगौतमादिभिर्धन्वन्यभिस्रोतमसौ सरस्वतीम् ।। ९-४-२२ ।।

In desert countries where there flowed the river Sarasvatī, Mahārāja Ambarīṣa performed great sacrifices like the aśvamedha-yajña and thus satisfied the master of all yajñas, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Such sacrifices were performed with great opulence and suitable paraphernalia and with contributions of dakṣiṇā to the brāhmaṇas, who were supervised by great personalities like Vasiṣṭha, Asita and Gautama, representing the king, the performer of the sacrifices. ।। 9-4-22 ।।

english translation

महाराज अम्बरीष ने उस मरुस्थल में अश्वमेध यज्ञ जैसे महान् यज्ञ सम्पन्न किये जिसमें से होकर सरस्वती नदी बहती है और समस्त यज्ञों के स्वामी भगवान् को प्रसन्न किया। ऐसे यज्ञ महान् ऐश्वर्य तथा उपयुक्त सामग्री द्वारा तथा ब्राह्मणों को दक्षिणा देकर सम्पन्न किये जाते थे और इन यज्ञों का निरीक्षण वसिष्ठ, असित तथा गौतम जैसे महापुरुषों द्वारा किया जाता था जो यज्ञों के सम्पन्नकर्ता राजा के प्रतिनिधि होते थे। ।। ९-४-२२ ।।

In the sacrifice arranged by Mahārāja Ambarīṣa, the members of the assembly and the priests [especially hotā, udgātā, brahmā and adhvaryu] were gorgeously dressed, and they all looked exactly like demigods. They eagerly saw to the proper performance of the yajña. ।। 9-4-23 ।।

english translation

महाराज अम्बरीष द्वारा आयोजित यज्ञ में सभा के सदस्य तथा पुरोहित (विशेष रूप से होता, उद्गाता, ब्रह्मा तथा अध्वर्यु) वस्त्रों से बहुत अच्छी तरह से सज्जित थे और वे सब देवताओं की तरह लग रहे थे। उन्होंने उत्सुकतापूर्वक यज्ञ को समुचित रूप से सम्पन्न कराया। ।। ९-४-२३ ।।

The citizens of the state of Mahārāja Ambarīṣa were accustomed to chanting and hearing about the glorious activities of the Personality of Godhead. Thus they never aspired to be elevated to the heavenly planets, which are extremely dear even to the demigods. ।। 9-4-24 ।।

महाराज अम्बरीष की प्रजा भगवान् के महिमामय कार्यकलापों के विषय में कीर्तन एवं श्रवण करने की आदी थी। इस प्रकार वह कभी भी देवताओं के परम प्रिय स्वर्गलोक में जाने की इच्छा नहीं करती थी। ।। ९-४-२४ ।।

Those who are saturated with the transcendental happiness of rendering service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead are uninterested even in the achievements of great mystics, for such achievements do not enhance the transcendental bliss felt by a devotee who always thinks of Kṛṣṇa within the core of his heart. ।। 9-4-25 ।।

english translation

जो लोग भगवान् की सेवा करने के दिव्य सुख से परिपूर्ण हैं वे महान् योगियों की उपलब्धियों में भी कोई रुचि नहीं रखते क्योंकि ऐसी उपलब्धियाँ उस भक्त के द्वारा अनुभव किये गये दिव्य आनन्द को वर्धित नहीं करतीं जो अपने हृदय के भीतर सदैव कृष्ण का चिन्तन करता रहता है। ।। ९-४-२५ ।।
