तस्मै संव्यभजत्सोऽन्नमादृत्य श्रद्धयान्वितः । हरिं सर्वत्र सम्पश्यन् स भुक्त्वा प्रययौ द्विजः ॥ ९-२१-६ ॥
Because Rantideva perceived the presence of the Supreme Godhead everywhere, and in every living entity, he received the guest with faith and respect and gave him a share of the food. The brāhmaṇa guest ate his share and then went away. ॥ 9-21-6 ॥

चूँकि रन्तिदेव को सर्वत्र एवं हर जीव में भगवान् की उपस्थिति का बोध होता था अतएव वह बड़े ही श्रद्धा-सम्मान से अतिथि का स्वागत करता और उसे भोजन का अंश देता था। उस ब्राह्मण अतिथि ने अपना भाग खाया और फिर चला गया। ॥ ९-२१-६ ॥

अथान्यो भोक्ष्यमाणस्य विभक्तस्य महीपते । विभक्तं व्यभजत्तस्मै वृषलाय हरिं स्मरन् ॥ ९-२१-७ ॥
Thereafter, having divided the remaining food with his relatives, Rantideva was just about to eat his own share when a śūdra guest arrived. Seeing the śūdra in relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, King Rantideva gave him also a share of the food. ॥ 9-21-7 ॥

तत्पश्चात् शेष भोजन को अपने परिवार वालों मे बाँट देने के बाद रन्तिदेव अपना हिस्सा खाने जा ही रहे थे कि एक शूद्र अतिथि वहाँ आ गया। इस शूद्र को भगवान् से सम्बन्धित देखकर राजा रन्तिदेव ने उसे भी भोजन में से एक अंश दिया। ॥ ९-२१-७ ॥

याते शूद्रे तमन्योऽगादतिथिः श्वभिरावृतः । राजन् मे दीयतामन्नं सगणाय बुभुक्षते ॥ ९-२१-८ ॥
When the śūdra went away, another guest arrived, surrounded by dogs, and said, “O King, I and my company of dogs are very hungry. Please give us something to eat.” ॥ 9-21-8 ॥
english translation
जब शूद्र चला गया तो एक दूसरा मेहमान आया जिसके साथ कुत्ते थे। उसने कहा, “हे राजा, मैं तथा मेरे साथ के ये कुत्ते अत्यन्त भूखे हैं। कृपया हमें कुछ खाने को दें।” ॥ ९-२१-८ ॥

स आदृत्यावशिष्टं यद्बहुमानपुरस्कृतम् । तच्च दत्त्वा नमश्चक्रे श्वभ्यः श्वपतये विभुः ॥ ९-२१-९ ॥
With great respect, King Rantideva offered the balance of the food to the dogs and the master of the dogs, who had come as guests. The King offered them all respects and obeisances. ॥ 9-21-9 ॥

राजा रन्तिदेव ने अतिथि रूप में आये कुत्तों और कुत्तों के मालिक को अत्यन्त आदरपूर्वक बचा हुआ भोजन दे दिया। राजा ने उनका सभी प्रकार से आदर किया और नमस्कार किया। ॥ ९-२१-९ ॥

पानीयमात्रमुच्छेषं तच्चैकपरितर्पणम् । पास्यतः पुल्कसोऽभ्यागादपो देह्यशुभस्य मे ॥ ९-२१-१० ॥
Thereafter, only the drinking water remained, and there was only enough to satisfy one person, but when the King was just about to drink it, a caṇḍāla appeared and said, “O King, although I am lowborn, kindly give me some drinking water.” ॥ 9-21-10 ॥

तत्पश्चात् केवल पीने का जल ही बच रहा जो केवल एक व्यक्ति को संतुष्ट करने के लिए ही पर्याप्त था। किन्तु ज्योंही राजा जल पीने को हुआ कि एक चण्डाल वहाँ आया और कहने लगा, “हे राजा, मैं निम्नकुल में उत्पन्न (नीच) हूँ। कृपा करके मुझे पीने के लिए थोड़ा जल दें।” ॥ ९-२१-१० ॥
