मूढे भर द्वाजमिमं भर द्वाजं बृहस्पते । यातौ यदुक्त्वा पितरौ भरद्वाजस्ततस्त्वयम् ।। ९-२०-३८ ।।

sanskrit

Bṛhaspati said to Mamatā, “You foolish woman, although this child was born from the wife of one man through the semen discharged by another, you should maintain him.” Upon hearing this, Mamatā replied, “O Bṛhaspati, you maintain him!” After speaking in this way, Bṛhaspati and Mamatā both left. Thus the child was known as Bharadvāja. ।। 9-20-38 ।।

english translation

बृहस्पति ने ममता से कहा, “अरी मूर्ख! यद्यपि यह बालक अन्य पुरुष की पत्नी और किसी दूसरे पुरुष के वीर्य से उत्पन्न हुआ है, किन्तु तुम इसका पालन करो।” यह सुनकर ममता ने उत्तर दिया, “अरे बृहस्पति, तुम इसको पालो।” ऐसा कहकर बृहस्पति तथा ममता उसे छोडक़र चले गये। इस तरह बालक का नाम भरद्वाज पड़ा। ।। ९-२०-३८ ।।
