ओमित्युक्ते यथाधर्ममुपयेमे शकुन्तलाम् । गान्धर्वविधिना राजा देशकालविधानवित् ।। ९-२०-१६ ।।

When Śakuntalā responded to Mahārāja Duṣmanta’s proposal with silence, the agreement was complete. Then the King, who knew the laws of marriage, immediately married her by chanting the Vedic praṇava [oṁkāra], in accordance with the marriage ceremony as performed among the Gandharvas. ।। 9-20-16 ।।

english translation

जब शकुन्तला महाराज दुष्मन्त के प्रस्ताव पर मौन रही तो सहमति पूर्ण हो गई। तब विवाह के नियमों को जानने वाले राजा ने तुरन्त ही वैदिक प्रणव (ओङ्कार) का उच्चारण किया, जैसा कि गन्धर्वों में विवाह के अवसर पर किया जाता है। ।। ९-२०-१६ ।।
