Srimad Bhagavatam
ता जलाशयमासाद्य कन्याः कमललोचनाः । तीरे न्यस्य दुकूलानि विजह्रुः सिञ्चतीर्मिथः ॥ ९-१८-८ ॥
When the young, lotus-eyed girls came to the bank of a reservoir of water, they wanted to enjoy by bathing. Thus they left their clothing on the bank and began sporting, throwing water on one another. ॥ 9-18-8 ॥
english translation
जब तरुणी, कमलनयनी लड़कियाँ जलाशय के तीर पर आईं तो उन्होंने स्नान का आनन्द लेना चाहा। फलत: किनारे पर अपने वस्त्र रखकर वे एक दूसरे पर जल उछाल कर जल-क्रीड़ा करने लगीं। ॥ ९-१८-८ ॥
