ये मधुच्छन्दसो ज्येष्ठाः कुशलं मेनिरे न तत् । अशपत्तान् मुनिः क्रुद्धो म्लेच्छा भवत दुर्जनाः ।। ९-१६-३३ ।।

sanskrit

When requested by their father to accept Śunaḥśepha as the eldest son, the elder fifty of the Madhucchandās, the sons of Viśvāmitra, did not agree. Therefore Viśvāmitra, being angry, cursed them. “May all of you bad sons become mlecchas,” he said, “being opposed to the principles of Vedic culture.” ।। 9-16-33 ।।

english translation

जब विश्वामित्र ने शुन:शेफ को सबसे बड़ा पुत्र स्वीकार करने के लिए कहा तो विश्वामित्र के पचास ज्येष्ठ मधुच्छन्दा पुत्र इसके लिए राजी नहीं हुए। फलत: विश्वामित्र क्रुद्ध हो गये और उन्होंने उन सबों को शाप दे दिया, “निकम्मे पुत्रो! तुम सारे म्लेच्छ बन जाओ क्योंकि तुम वैदिक संस्कृति के नियमों के विरुद्ध हो।” ।। ९-१६-३३ ।।
