तदा पुमान् मुक्तसमस्तबन्धनस्तद्भावभावानुकृताशयाकृतिः । निर्दग्धबीजानुशयो महीयसा भक्तिप्रयोगेण समेत्यधोक्षजम् ।। ७-७-३६ ।।

The devotee is then freed from all material contamination because he constantly thinks of the Lord’s pastimes and because his mind and body have been converted to spiritual qualities. Because of his intense devotional service, his ignorance, material consciousness and all kinds of material desires are completely burnt to ashes. This is the stage at which one can achieve the shelter of the Lord’s lotus feet. ।। 7-7-36 ।।

english translation

तब भक्त सारे भौतिक कल्मष से मुक्त हो जाता है, क्योंकि वह निरन्तर भगवान् की लीलाओं के विषय में सोचता रहता है और उसका मन तथा शरीर आध्यात्मिक गुणों में बदल चुके होते हैं। उसकी उत्कट भक्ति के कारण उसका अज्ञान, भौतिक चेतना तथा समस्त प्रकार की भौतिक इच्छाएँ जलकर पूर्णतया भस्म हो जाती हैं। यही वह अवस्था है जब मनुष्य भगवान् के चरणकमलों की शरण प्राप्त कर सकता है। ।। ७-७-३६ ।।

अधोक्षजालम्भमिहाशुभात्मनः शरीरिणः संसृतिचक्रशातनम् । तद्ब्रह्मनिर्वाणसुखं विदुर्बुधास्ततो भजध्वं हृदये हृदीश्वरम् ।। ७-७-३७ ।।

The real problem of life is the repetition of birth and death, which is like a wheel rolling repeatedly up and down. This wheel, however, completely stops when one is in touch with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In other words, by the transcendental bliss realized from constant engagement in devotional service, one is completely liberated from material existence. All learned men know this. Therefore, my dear friends, O sons of the asuras, immediately begin meditating upon and worshiping the Supersoul within everyone’s heart. ।। 7-7-37 ।।

जीवन की असली समस्या जन्म-मृत्यु का चक्कर है, जो पहिये (चक्र) की भाँति बारम्बार ऊपर-नीचे चलता रहता है। किन्तु जब कोई भगवान् के सम्पर्क में रहता है, तो यह चक्र पूरी तरह रुक जाता है। दूसरे शब्दों में, भक्ति में निरन्तर मग्न रहने से जो दिव्य आनन्द मिलता है उससे वह इस संसार से पूर्णतया मुक्त हो जाता है। सारे विद्वान व्यक्ति इसे जानते हैं। अतएव हे मित्रो, हे असुरपुत्रो, तुम सभी लोग तुरन्त अपने-अपने हृदय में स्थित परमात्मा का ध्यान और पूजन प्रारम्भ कर दो। ।। ७-७-३७ ।।

O my friends, sons of the asuras, the Supreme Personality of Godhead in His Supersoul feature always exists within the cores of the hearts of all living entities. Indeed, He is the well-wisher and friend of all living entities, and there is no difficulty in worshiping the Lord. Why, then, should people not engage in His devotional service? Why are they so addicted to unnecessarily producing artificial paraphernalia for sense gratification? ।। 7-7-38 ।।

हे मित्रो, हे असुरपुत्रो, परमात्मा रूप में भगवान् सदैव समस्त जीवों के अंत:करण में विद्यमान रहते हैं। निस्सन्देह, वे सारे जीवों के शुभचिन्तक तथा मित्र हैं और भगवान् की पूजा करने में कोई कठिनाई भी नहीं है। तो फिर, लोग उनकी भक्ति क्यों नहीं करते? वे इन्द्रियतृप्ति के लिए कृत्रिम साज-सामान बनाने में व्यर्थ ही क्यों लिप्त रहते हैं? ।। ७-७-३८ ।।

One’s riches, beautiful wife and female friends, one’s sons and daughters, one’s residence, one’s domestic animals like cows, elephants and horses, one’s treasury, economic development and sense gratification — indeed, even the lifetime in which one can enjoy all these material opulences — are certainly temporary and flickering. Since the opportunity of human life is temporary, what benefit can these material opulences give to a sensible man who has understood himself to be eternal? ।। 7-7-39 ।।

मनुष्य का धन, सुन्दर स्त्री तथा सखियाँ, उसके पुत्र तथा पुत्रियाँ, उसका घर, उसके घरेलू पशु जैसे गाएँ, हाथी तथा घोड़े, उसका खजाना, आर्थिक विकास तथा इन्द्रियतृप्ति, यहाँ तक कि उसकी आयु जिसमें वह इन भौतिक ऐश्वर्यों का भोग कर सकता है निश्चित रूप से क्षणभंगुर एवं नश्वर हैं। चूँकि मनुष्य जीवन का अवसर अस्थायी है अतएव ये सारे भौतिक ऐश्वर्य ऐसे समझदार व्यक्ति को कौन सा लाभ पहुँचा सकते हैं जिसने अपने आपको शाश्वत समझ रखा है? ।। ७-७-३९ ।।

एवं हि लोकाः क्रतुभिः कृता अमी क्षयिष्णवः सातिशया न निर्मलाः । तस्माददृष्टश्रुतदूषणं परं भक्त्यैकयेशं भजतात्मलब्धये ।। ७-७-४० ।।

It is learned from Vedic literature that by performing great sacrifices one may elevate himself to the heavenly planets. However, although life on the heavenly planets is hundreds and thousands of times more comfortable than life on earth, the heavenly planets are not pure [nirmalam], or free from the taint of material existence. The heavenly planets are also temporary, and therefore they are not the goal of life. The Supreme Personality of Godhead, however, has never been seen or heard to possess inebriety. Consequently, for your own benefit and self-realization, you must worship the Lord with great devotion, as described in the revealed scriptures. ।। 7-7-40 ।।

वैदिक साहित्य से पता चलता है कि बड़े-बड़े यज्ञ सम्पन्न करके मनुष्य स्वर्गादि लोक तक ऊपर उठ सकता है। किन्तु स्वर्गलोक का जीवन पृथ्वी के जीवन की अपेक्षा सैकड़ों-हजारों गुना अधिक सुखकर होने पर भी स्वर्गलोक न तो शुद्ध (निर्मल) हैं, न भौतिक जगत के दोष से रहित हैं। सारे स्वर्गलोक भी नश्वर हैं, अतएव ये जीवन के लक्ष्य नहीं हैं। किन्तु यह न तो कभी देखा गया, न ही सुना गया कि भगवान् में उन्माद होता है। फलस्वरूप तुम्हें अपने निजी लाभ तथा आत्म-साक्षात्कार के लिए शास्त्रोक्त विधि से अत्यन्त भक्ति के साथ भगवान् की पूजा करनी चाहिए। ।। ७-७-४० ।।
