तेष्वेषु भगवान् राजंस्तारतम्येन वर्तते । तस्मात्पात्रं हि पुरुषो यावानात्मा यथेयते ॥ ७-१४-३८ ॥
O King Yudhiṣṭhira, the Supersoul in every body gives intelligence to the individual soul according to his capacity for understanding. Therefore the Supersoul is the chief within the body. The Supersoul is manifested to the individual soul according to the individual’s comparative development of knowledge, austerity, penance and so on. ॥ 7-14-38 ॥

हे राजा युधिष्ठिर, प्रत्येक जीव में परमात्मा उसकी समझने की क्षमता के अनुसार बुद्धि प्रदान करता है। अतएव शरीर के भीतर परमात्मा प्रमुख होता है। परमात्मा जीव में उसके ज्ञान के सापेक्ष विकास, तपस्या आदि के अनुसार जीव के समक्ष प्रकट होता है। ॥ ७-१४-३८ ॥
