भूम्यम्बुद्रुमयोषिद्भ्यश्चतुर्धा व्यभजद्धरिः । भूमिस्तुरीयं जग्राह खातपूरवरेण वै ।। ६-९-७ ।।

sanskrit

Among the earth, water, trees and women. In return for King Indra’s benediction that ditches in the earth would be filled automatically, the land accepted one fourth of the sinful reactions for killing a brāhmaṇa.।। 6-9-7 ।।

english translation

पृथ्वी, जल, वृक्ष तथा स्त्रियों में बाँट दिया। पृथ्वी ने, राजा इन्द्र से बदले में यह वरदान लेकर कि जहाँ कहीं भी गड्ढे होंगे वे समय पर अपने आप भर जायेंगे, ब्रह्महत्या के पापों का चतुर्थांश स्वीकार कर लिया। ।। ६-९-७ ।।
