पुनः प्रसाद्य तं सोमः कला लेभे क्षये दिताः । श‍ृणु नामानि लोकानां मातॄणां शङ्कराणि च ।। ६-६-२४ ।।

sanskrit

Thereafter the King of the moon pacified Prajāpati Dakṣa with courteous words and thus regained the portions of light he had lost during his disease. Nevertheless he could not beget children. The moon loses his shining power during the dark fortnight, and in the bright fortnight it is manifest again. ।। 6-6-24 ।।

english translation

तत्पश्चात् चन्द्रदेव ने प्रजापति को विनीत वचनों के द्वारा प्रसन्न करके रुग्णावस्था में क्षीण हुए प्रकाश को फिर से प्राप्त कर लिया, किन्तु तो भी उनके कोई सन्तान नहीं हुई। चन्द्रमा कृष्णपक्ष में अपना प्रकाश खो देता है, किन्तु शुक्ल पक्ष में उसे पुन: प्राप्त कर लेता है। ।। ६-६-२४ ।।
