न हि क्रमश्चेदिह मृत्युजन्मनोः शरीरिणामस्तु तदात्मकर्मभिः । यः स्नेहपाशो निजसर्गवृद्धये स्वयं कृतस्ते तमिमं विवृश्चसि ।। ६-१४-५५ ।।

My Lord, You may say that there is no law that a father must die in the lifetime of his son and that a son must be born in the lifetime of his father, since everyone lives and dies according to his own fruitive activity. However, if fruitive activity is so strong that birth and death depend upon it, there is no need of a controller, or God. Again, if You say that a controller is needed because the material energy does not have the power to act, one may answer that if the bonds of affection You have created are disturbed by fruitive action, no one will raise children with affection; instead, everyone will cruelly neglect his children. Since You have cut the bonds of affection that compel a parent to raise his child, You appear inexperienced and unintelligent. ।। 6-14-55 ।।

english translation

हे ईश्वर! आप यह कह सकते हैं कि ऐसा कोई नियम नहीं है कि पुत्र के जीवनकाल में ही पिता की मृत्यु हो और पिता के जीवन काल में ही पुत्र उत्पन्न हो, क्योंकि प्रत्येक व्यक्ति अपने कर्मों के अनुसार जीता और मरता है। फिर भी, यदि कर्म इतना प्रबल है कि जन्म तथा मृत्यु उसी पर निर्भर करते हों तो फिर नियन्ता या ईश्वर की आवश्यकता नहीं है? पुन: यदि तू कहे कि नियन्ता की आवश्यकता इसलिए है, क्योंकि माया में कार्य करने की शक्ति नहीं होती, तो कोई यह भी तो कह सकता है कि यदि कर्म के द्वारा तेरे बनाये हुए स्नेह-बंधन टूटते हैं, तो कोई भी संतान को स्नेहपूर्वक नहीं पालेगा वरन् सभी लोग अपनी संतानों की निर्दयता से उपेक्षा करने लगेंगे। चूँकि तूने स्नेह के उन बंधनों को काटा है, जिसके वशीभूत होकर माता-पिता अपनी सन्तान का पालन-पोषण करने के लिए विवश हो जाते हैं, इसलिए तू अनुभवहीन एवं बुद्धिहीन प्रतीत होता है। ।। ६-१४-५५ ।।
