सा शयानमुपव्रज्य दृष्ट्वा चोत्तारलोचनम् । प्राणेन्द्रियात्मभिस्त्यक्तं हतास्मीत्यपतद्भुवि ।। ६-१४-४६ ।।

sanskrit

When the maidservant approached the child, who was lying down, she saw that his eyes were turned upward. There were no signs of life, all his senses having stopped, and she could understand that the child was dead. Seeing this, she immediately cried, “Now I am doomed,” and fell to the ground. ।। 6-14-46 ।।

english translation

जब धाय उस सोते हुए बच्चे के पास पहुँची तो उसने देखा कि उसकी आँखें ऊपर की ओर उलट गई हैं, उसके शरीर में प्राण का कोई संचार नहीं है और उसकी समस्त इन्द्रियाँ निष्क्रिय हो गई हैं। अत: वह समझ गई कि बालक मर चुका है। यह देखकर वह तुरन्त चिल्ला उठी, ‘हाय मैं मारी गई’ और पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़ी। ।। ६-१४-४६ ।।
