Srimad Bhagavatam
वर्तमानोऽन्ययोः कालो गुणाभिज्ञापको यथा । एवं जन्मान्ययोरेतद्धर्माधर्मनिदर्शनम् ॥ ६-१-४७ ॥
Just as springtime in the present indicates the nature of springtimes in the past and future, so this life of happiness, distress or a mixture of both gives evidence concerning the religious and irreligious activities of one’s past and future lives. ॥ 6-1-47 ॥
english translation
जिस तरह वर्तमान वसन्त काल भूत तथा भविष्य काल के वसन्त कालों को सूचित करता है, उसी तरह सुख, दु:ख या दोनों से मिश्रित यह जीवन मनुष्य के भूत तथा भावी जीवनों के धार्मिक तथा अधार्मिक कार्यों के विषय में साक्ष्य प्रस्तुत करता है। ॥ ६-१-४७ ॥
