विद्यातपोवित्तवपुर्वयःकुलैः सतां गुणैः षड्भिरसत्तमेतरैः । स्मृतौ हतायां भृतमानदुर्दृशः स्तब्धा न पश्यन्ति हि धाम भूयसाम् ।। ४-३-१७ ।।

sanskrit

Although the six qualities education, austerity, wealth, beauty, youth and heritage are for the highly elevated, one who is proud of possessing them becomes blind, and thus he loses his good sense and cannot appreciate the glories of great personalities. ।। 4-3-17 ।।

english translation

यद्यपि शिक्षा, तप, धन, सौन्दर्य, यौवन और कुलीनता—ये छह गुण अत्यन्त उच्च होते हैं, किन्तु जो इनको प्राप्त करके मदान्ध हो जाता है और इस प्रकार वह सद्ज्ञान खो बैठता है, वह महापुरुषों के महिमा को स्वीकार नहीं कर पाता। ।। ४-३-१७ ।।

vidyAtapovittavapurvayaHkulaiH satAM guNaiH SaDbhirasattametaraiH | smRtau hatAyAM bhRtamAnadurdRzaH stabdhA na pazyanti hi dhAma bhUyasAm || 4-3-17 ||
