प्रमत्तमुच्चैरितिकृत्यचिन्तया प्रवृद्धलोभं विषयेषु लालसम् । त्वमप्रमत्तः सहसाभिपद्यसे क्षुल्लेलिहानोऽहिरिवाखुमन्तकः ।। ४-२४-६६ ।।

My dear Lord, all living entities within this material world are mad after planning for things, and they are always busy with a desire to do this or that. This is due to uncontrollable greed. The greed for material enjoyment is always existing in the living entity, but Your Lordship is always alert, and in due course of time You strike him, just as a snake seizes a mouse and very easily swallows him. ।। 4-24-66 ।।

english translation

हे भगवन्, इस संसार के सारे प्राणी कुछ-न-कुछ योजना बनाने में पागल हैं तथा यह या वह करते रहने की इच्छा से काम में जुटे रहते हैं। अनियंत्रित लालच के कारण यह सब होता है। जीवात्मा में भौतिक सुख की लालसा सदैव बनी रहती है, किन्तु आप नित्य सतर्क रहते हैं और समय आने पर आप उस पर उसी प्रकार टूट पड़ते हैं जिस प्रकार सर्प चूहे पर झपटता है और आसानी से निगल जाता है। ।। ४-२४-६६ ।।
