तत्राप्यदाभ्यनियमो वैखानससुसम्मते । आरब्ध उग्रतपसि यथा स्वविजये पुरा ।। ४-२३-४ ।।

sanskrit

After retiring from family life, Mahārāja Pṛthu strictly followed the regulations of retired life and underwent severe austerities in the forest. He engaged in these activities as seriously as he had formerly engaged in leading the government and conquering everyone. ।। 4-23-4 ।।

english translation

पारिवारिक जीवन से निवृत्त होकर महाराज पृथु ने वानप्रस्थ जीवन के नियमों का कड़ाई से पालन किया और वन में कठिन तपस्या की। वे इन कार्यों में उसी गम्भीरता से जुट गये जिस तरह पहले वे शासन चलाने तथा हर एक पर विजय पाने के लिए जुट जाते थे। ।। ४-२३-४ ।।

tatrApyadAbhyaniyamo vaikhAnasasusammate | Arabdha ugratapasi yathA svavijaye purA || 4-23-4 ||
