आत्मस्त्र्यपत्यसुहृदो बलमृद्धकोशमन्तःपुरं परिविहारभुवश्च रम्याः । भूमण्डलं जलधिमेखलमाकलय्य कालोपसृष्टमिति स प्रययौ विशालाम् ।। ४-१२-१६ ।।

Thus Dhruva Mahārāja, at the end, left his kingdom, which extended all over the earth and was bounded by the great oceans. He considered his body, his wives, his children, his friends, his army, his rich treasury, his very comfortable palaces and his many enjoyable pleasure-grounds to be creations of the illusory energy. Thus in due course of time he retired to the forest in the Himālayas known as Badarikāśrama. ।। 4-12-16 ।।

english translation

अन्त में ध्रुव महाराज ने सारी पृथ्वी पर फैले और महासागरों से घिरे अपने राज्य को त्याग दिया। उन्होंने अपने शरीर, पत्नियों, सन्तानों, मित्रों, सेना, समृद्ध कोश, सुखकर महलों तथा विनोद-स्थलों को माया की सृष्टियाँ मान लिया। इस तरह वे कालक्रम में हिमालय पर्वत पर स्थित बदरिकाश्रम के वन में चले गये। ।। ४-१२-१६ ।।

तस्यां विशुद्धकरणः शिववार्विगाह्यबद्ध्वाऽऽसनं जितमरुन्मनसाऽऽहृताक्षः । स्थूले दधार भगवत्प्रतिरूप एतद्ध्यायंस्तदव्यवहितो व्यसृजत्समाधौ ।। ४-१२-१७ ।।

In Badarikāśrama Dhruva Mahārāja’s senses became completely purified because he bathed regularly in the crystal-clear, purified water. He fixed his sitting position and by yogic practice controlled the breathing process and the air of life; in this way his senses were completely withdrawn. Then he concentrated his mind on the arcā-vigraha form of the Lord, which is the exact replica of the Lord and, thus meditating upon Him, entered into complete trance. ।। 4-12-17 ।।

english translation

बदरिकाश्रम में ध्रुव महाराज की इन्द्रियाँ पूर्णत: शुद्ध हो गईं क्योंकि वे स्वच्छ शुद्ध जल में नियमित रूप से स्नान करते थे। वे आसन पर स्थित हो गये और फिर उन्होंने योगक्रिया से श्वास तथा प्राणवायु को वश में किया। इस प्रकार उन्होंने अपनी इन्द्रियों को पूर्ण रूप से समेट लिया। तब उन्होंने अपने मन को भगवान् के अर्चाविग्रह रूप में केन्द्रित किया जो भगवान् का पूर्ण प्रतिरूप है और इस प्रकार से उनका ध्यान करते हुए वे पूर्ण समाधि में प्रविष्ट हो गये। ।। ४-१२-१७ ।।

भक्तिं हरौ भगवति प्रवहन्नजस्रमानन्दबाष्पकलया मुहुरर्द्यमानः । विक्लिद्यमानहृदयः पुलकाचिताङ्गो नात्मानमस्मरदसाविति मुक्तलिङ्गः ।। ४-१२-१८ ।।

Because of his transcendental bliss, incessant tears flowed from his eyes, his heart melted, and there was shivering and standing of the hairs all over his body. Thus transformed, in a trance of devotional service, Dhruva Mahārāja completely forgot his bodily existence, and thus he immediately became liberated from material bondage. ।। 4-12-18 ।।

english translation

दिव्य आनन्द के कारण उनके नेत्रों से सतत अश्रु बहने लगे, उनका हृदय द्रवित हो उठा और पूरे शरीर में कम्पन तथा रोमांच हो आया। भक्ति की समाधि में पहुँचने से ध्रुव महाराज अपने शारीरिक अस्तित्व को पूर्णत: भूल गये और तुरन्त ही भौतिक बन्धन से मुक्त हो गये। ।। ४-१२-१८ ।।

स ददर्श विमानाग्र्यं नभसोऽवतरद्ध्रुवः । विभ्राजयद्दश दिशो राकापतिमिवोदितम् ।। ४-१२-१९ ।।

sanskrit

As soon as the symptoms of his liberation were manifest, he saw a very beautiful airplane coming down from the sky, as if the brilliant full moon were coming down, illuminating all the ten directions. ।। 4-12-19 ।।

english translation

ज्योंही उनकी मुक्ति के लक्षण प्रकट हुए, उन्होंने एक अत्यन्त सुन्दर विमान को आकाश से नीचे उतरते हुए देखा, मानो तेजस्वी पूर्ण चन्द्रमा दशों दिशाओं को आलोकित करते हुए नीचे आ रहा हो। ।। ४-१२-१९ ।।

तत्रानु देवप्रवरौ चतुर्भुजौ श्यामौ किशोरावरुणाम्बुजेक्षणौ । स्थिताववष्टभ्य गदां सुवाससौ किरीटहाराङ्गदचारुकुण्डलौ ।। ४-१२-२० ।।

Dhruva Mahārāja saw two very beautiful associates of Lord Viṣṇu in the plane. They had four hands and a blackish bodily luster, they were very youthful, and their eyes were just like reddish lotus flowers. They held clubs in their hands, and they were dressed in very attractive garments with helmets and were decorated with necklaces, bracelets and earrings. ।। 4-12-20 ।।

english translation

ध्रुव महाराज ने विमान में भगवान् विष्णु के दो अत्यन्त सुन्दर पार्षदों को देखा। उनके चार भुजाएँ थीं और श्याम वर्ण की शारीरिक कान्ति थी, वे अत्यन्त तरुण थे और उनके नेत्र लाल कमल-पुष्पों के समान थे। वे हाथों में गदा धारण किये थे और उनकी वेशभूषा अत्यन्त आकर्षक थी। वे मुकुट धारण किये थे और हारों, बाजूबन्दों तथा कुण्डलों से सुशोभित थे। ।। ४-१२-२० ।।
