श्रुत्वा हरिस्तमरणार्थिनमप्रमेयश्चक्रायुधः पतगराजभुजाधिरूढः । चक्रेण नक्रवदनं विनिपाट्य तस्माद्धस्ते प्रगृह्य भगवान् कृपयोज्जहार ।। २-७-१६ ।।
The Personality of Godhead, after hearing the elephant’s plea, felt that the elephant needed His immediate help, for he was in great distress. Thus at once the Lord appeared there on the wings of the king of birds, Garuḍa, fully equipped with His weapon, the wheel [cakra]. With the wheel He cut to pieces the mouth of the crocodile to save the elephant, and He delivered the elephant by lifting him by his trunk. ।। 2-7-16 ।।

हाथी की पुकार सुनकर श्रीभगवान् को लगा कि उसे उनकी अविलम्ब सहायता की आवश्यकता है, क्योंकि वह घोर संकट में था। तब पक्षिराज गरुड़ के पंखों पर आसीन होकर भगवान् अपने आयुध चक्र से सज्जित होकर वहाँ पर तुरन्त प्रकट हुए। उन्होंने हाथी की रक्षा करने के लिए अपने चक्र से मगर के मुँह के खण्ड-खण्ड कर दिये और हाथी के सूँड़से पकड़ कर उसे बाहर निकाल दिया। ।। २-७-१६ ।।

hk transliteration by Sanscriptज्यायान् गुणैरवरजोऽप्यदितेः सुतानां लोकान् विचक्रम इमान् यदथाधियज्ञः । क्ष्मां वामनेन जगृहे त्रिपदच्छलेन याच्ञामृते पथि चरन् प्रभुभिर्न चाल्यः ।। २-७-१७ ।।
The Lord, although transcendental to all material modes, still surpassed all the qualities of the sons of Aditi, known as the Ādityas. The Lord appeared as the youngest son of Aditi. And because He surpassed all the planets of the universe, He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. On the pretense of asking for a measurement of three footsteps of land, He took away all the lands of Bali Mahārāja. He asked simply because without begging, no authority can take one’s rightful possession. ।। 2-7-17 ।।

भगवान् समस्त भौतिक गुणों से परे होते हुए भी अदिति के पुत्रों (आदित्यों) के गुणों से कहीं बढ़ कर थे। वे अदिति के सबसे कनिष्ठ पुत्र के रूप में प्रकट हुए। और क्योंकि उन्होंने ब्रह्माण्ड के समस्त ग्रहों को पार किया, अत: वे पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् हैं। उन्होंने तीन पग भूमि माँगने के बहाने से बलि महाराज की सारी भूमि ले ली। उन्होंने याचना इसीलिए की क्योंकि बिना याचना के, सन्मार्ग पर चलने वाले से कोई उसकी अधिकृत सम्पत्ति नहीं ले सकता। ।। २-७-१७ ।।

hk transliteration by Sanscriptनार्थो बलेरयमुरुक्रमपादशौचमापः शिखाधृतवतो विबुधाधिपत्यम् । यो वै प्रतिश्रुतमृते न चिकीर्षदन्यदात्मानमङ्ग स शिरसा हरयेऽभिमेने ।। २-७-१८ ।।
Bali Mahārāja, who put on his head the water washed from the lotus feet of the Lord, did not think of anything besides his promise, in spite of being forbidden by his spiritual master. The king dedicated his own personal body to fulfill the measurement of the Lord’s third step. For such a personality, even the kingdom of heaven, which he conquered by his strength, was of no value. ।। 2-7-18 ।।

अपने सिर पर भगवान् के कमल-पाद प्रक्षालित जल को धारण करने वाले बलि महाराज ने अपने गुरु द्वारा मना किये जाने पर भी अपने वचन के अतिरिक्त मन में अन्य कुछ धारण नहीं किया। राजा ने भगवान् के तीसरे पग को पूरा करने के लिए अपना शरीर समर्पित कर दिया। ऐसे महापुरुष के लिए अपने बाहुबल से जीते गये स्वर्ग के साम्राज्य का भी कोई महत्व नहीं था। ।। २-७-१८ ।।

hk transliteration by Sanscriptतुभ्यं च नारद भृशं भगवान् विवृद्धभावेन साधु परितुष्ट उवाच योगम् । ज्ञानं च भागवतमात्मसतत्त्वदीपं यद्वासुदेवशरणा विदुरञ्जसैव ।। २-७-१९ ।।
O Nārada, you were taught about the science of God and His transcendental loving service by the Personality of Godhead in His incarnation of Haṁsāvatāra. He was very much pleased with you, due to your intense proportion of devotional service. He also explained unto you, lucidly, the full science of devotional service, which is especially understandable by persons who are souls surrendered unto Lord Vāsudeva, the Personality of Godhead. ।। 2-7-19 ।।

हे नारद, तुम्हें श्रीभगवान् ने अपने हंसावतार में ईश्वर के विज्ञान तथा दिव्य प्रेमभाव के विषय में शिक्षा दी थी। वे तुम्हारी अगाध भक्ति से अत्यधिक प्रसन्न हुए थे। उन्होंने तुम्हें भक्ति का पूरा विज्ञान भी अत्यन्त सुबोध ढंग से समझाया था, जिसे केवल भगवान् वासुदेव के प्रति पूर्ण समर्पित व्यक्ति ही समझ सकते हैं। ।। २-७-१९ ।।

As the incarnation of Manu, the Lord became the descendant of the Manu dynasty and ruled over the miscreant kingly order, subduing them by His powerful wheel weapon. Undeterred in all circumstances, His rule was characterized by His glorious fame, which spread over the three lokas, and above them to the planetary system of Satyaloka, the topmost in the universe. ।। 2-7-20 ।।

भगवान् ने मनु-अवतार लिया और वे मनुवंश के वंशज बन गये। उन्होंने अपने शक्तिशाली सुदर्शन चक्र से दुष्ट राजाओं का दमन करके उन पर शासन किया। समस्त परिस्थितियों में अबाध रहते हुए, उनका शासन तीनों लोकों तथा ब्रह्माण्ड के सर्वोच्च सत्यलोक तक फैला था और उनकी महिमामयी कीर्ति से मंडित था। ।। २-७-२० ।।
