Srimad Bhagavatam
वर्षपूगसहस्रान्ते तदण्डमुदकेशयम् । कालकर्मस्वभावस्थो जीवोऽजीवमजीवयत् ॥ २-५-३४ ॥
Thus all the universes remained thousands of aeons within the water ॥ the Causal Ocean॥, and the Lord of living beings, entering in each of them, caused them to be fully animated. ॥ 2-5-34 ॥
english translation
इस प्रकार सारे ब्रह्माण्ड हजारों युगों तक जल के भीतर (कारण-जल में) पड़े रहे। समस्त जीवों के स्वामी ने उन सबमें प्रवेश करके उन्हें पूरी तरह सजीव बनाया। ॥ २-५-३४ ॥
