सन्दधेऽस्त्रं स्वधनुषि कामः पञ्चमुखं तदा । मधुर्मनो रजस्तोक इन्द्रभृत्या व्यकम्पयन् ॥ १२-८-२५ ॥
While the son of passion [greed personified], spring and the other servants of Indra all tried to agitate Mārkaṇḍeya’s mind, Cupid drew his five-headed arrow and fixed it upon his bow. ॥ 12-8-25 ॥

जबकि जुनून के पुत्र [लालच], वसंत और इंद्र के अन्य सेवकों ने मार्कंडेय के दिमाग को उत्तेजित करने की कोशिश की, कामदेव ने अपना पांच सिर वाला तीर निकाला और उसे अपने धनुष पर चढ़ाया। ॥ १२-८-२५ ॥
