द्वीपवर्षसमुद्राणां गिरिनद्युपवर्णनम् । ज्योतिश्चक्रस्य संस्थानं पातालनरकस्थितिः ॥ १२-१२-१६ ॥
The Bhāgavatam gives an elaborate description of the earth’s continents, regions, oceans, mountains and rivers. Also described are the arrangement of the celestial sphere and the conditions found in the subterranean regions and in hell. ॥ 12-12-16 ॥

भागवतम पृथ्वी के महाद्वीपों, क्षेत्रों, महासागरों, पहाड़ों और नदियों का विस्तृत विवरण देता है। आकाशीय क्षेत्र की व्यवस्था और भूमिगत क्षेत्रों और नरक में पाई जाने वाली स्थितियों का भी वर्णन किया गया है। ॥ १२-१२-१६ ॥

The rebirth of Prajāpati Dakṣa as the son of the Pracetās, and the progeny of Dakṣa’s daughters, who initiated the races of demigods, demons, human beings, animals, serpents, birds and so on — all this is described. ॥ 12-12-17 ॥
