मुसलावशेषायःखण्डकृतेषुर्लुब्धको जरा । मृगास्याकारं तच्चरणं विव्याध मृगशङ्कया ॥ ११-३०-३३ ॥
Just then a hunter named Jarā, who had approached the place, mistook the Lord’s foot for a deer’s face. Thinking he had found his prey, Jarā pierced the foot with his arrow, which he had fashioned from the remaining iron fragment of Sāmba’s club. ॥ 11-30-33 ॥

तभी जरा नाम का एक शिकारी, जो उस स्थान पर आया था, उसने गलती से भगवान के पैर को हिरण का चेहरा समझ लिया। यह सोचकर कि उसे अपना शिकार मिल गया है, जरा ने अपने तीर से उसके पैर में छेद कर दिया, जिसे उसने सांबा की छड़ी के बचे हुए लोहे के टुकड़े से बनाया था। ॥ ११-३०-३३ ॥
