यदृच्छयोपपन्नेन शुक्लेनोपार्जितेन वा । धनेनापीडयन् भृत्यान् न्यायेनैवाहरेत्क्रतून् ॥ ११-१७-५१ ॥
A householder should comfortably maintain his dependents either with money that comes of its own accord or with that gathered by honest execution of one’s duties. According to one’s means, one should perform sacrifices and other religious ceremonies. ॥ 11-17-51 ॥

एक गृहस्थ को अपने आश्रितों का भरण-पोषण या तो स्वयं की इच्छा से प्राप्त धन से अथवा अपने कर्तव्यों के ईमानदारीपूर्वक पालन से एकत्रित धन से करना चाहिए। व्यक्ति को अपनी सामर्थ्य के अनुसार यज्ञ तथा अन्य धार्मिक अनुष्ठान करने चाहिए। ॥ ११-१७-५१ ॥
