ततः प्रादुष्कृतं तेजः प्रचण्डंसर्वतो दिशम् । प्राणापदमभिप्रेक्ष्य विष्णुं जिष्णुरुवाचह ॥ १-७-२१ ॥
Thereupon a glaring light spread in all directions. It was so fierce that Arjuna thought his own life in danger, and so he began to address Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa. ॥ 1-7-21 ॥

तत्पश्चात् समस्त दिशाओं में प्रचण्ड प्रकाश फैल गया। यह इतना उग्र था कि अर्जुन को अपने प्राण संकट में जान पड़े, अतएव उसने भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण को सम्बोधित करना प्रारम्भ किया। ॥ १-७-२१ ॥

अर्जुन उवाच कृष्ण कृष्ण महाभाग भक्तानामभयङ्कर । त्वमेको दह्यमानानामपवर्गोऽसि संसृतेः ॥ १-७-२२ ॥
Arjuna said: O my Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, You are the almighty Personality of Godhead. There is no limit to Your different energies. Therefore only You are competent to instill fearlessness in the hearts of Your devotees. Everyone in the flames of material miseries can find the path of liberation in You only. ॥ 1-7-22 ॥

अर्जुन ने कहा : हे भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण, आप सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर हैं। आपकी विविध शक्तियों की कोई सीमा नहीं है। अतएव एकमात्र आप ही अपने भक्तों के हृदयों में अभय उत्पन्न करने में समर्थ हैं। भौतिक कष्टों की ज्वालाओं में फँसे सारे लोग केवल आपमें ही मोक्ष का मार्ग पा सकते हैं। ॥ १-७-२२ ॥

त्वमाद्यः पुरुषः साक्षादीश्वरः प्रकृतेः परः । मायां व्युदस्य चिच्छक्त्या कैवल्ये स्थित आत्मनि ॥ १-७-२३ ॥
You are the original Personality of Godhead who expands Himself all over the creations and is transcendental to material energy. You have cast away the effects of the material energy by dint of Your spiritual potency. You are always situated in eternal bliss and transcendental knowledge. ॥ 1-7-23 ॥

आप आदि भगवान् हैं जिनका समस्त सृष्टियों में विस्तार है और आप भौतिक शक्ति से परे हैं। आपने अपनी आध्यात्मिक शक्ति से भौतिक शक्ति के सारे प्रभावों को दूर भगा दिया है। आप निरन्तर शाश्वत आनन्द तथा दिव्य ज्ञान में स्थित रहते हैं। ॥ १-७-२३ ॥

सएवजीवलोकस्य मायामोहितचेतसः । विधत्से स्वेन वीर्येण श्रेयो धर्मादिलक्षणम् ॥ १-७-२४ ॥
And yet, though You are beyond the purview of the material energy, You execute the four principles of liberation characterized by religion and so on for the ultimate good of the conditioned souls. ॥ 1-7-24 ॥

और, यद्यपि आप भौतिक शक्ति (माया) के कार्यक्षेत्र से परे हैं, फिर भी आप बद्धजीवों के परम कल्याण के लिए धर्म इत्यादि से के चारों सिद्धान्तों का पालन करते हैं। ॥ १-७-२४ ॥

तथायं चावतारस्ते भुवो भारजिहीर्षया । स्वानां चानन्यभावानामनुध्यानाय चासकृत् ॥ १-७-२५ ॥
Thus You descend as an incarnation to remove the burden of the world and to benefit Your friends, especially those who are Your exclusive devotees and are constantly rapt in meditation upon You. ॥ 1-7-25 ॥

इस प्रकार आप संसार का भार हटाने तथा अपने मित्रों तथा विशेषकर आपके ध्यान में लीन रहने वाले आपके अनन्य भक्तों को लाभ पहुँचाने के लिए अवतरित होते हैं। ॥ १-७-२५ ॥
