अथापि यत्पादनखावसृष्टं जगद्विरिञ्चोपहृतार्हणाम्भः । सेशं पुनात्यन्यतमो मुकुन्दात्को नाम लोके भगवत्पदार्थः ॥ १-१८-२१ ॥
Who can be worthy of the name of the Supreme Lord but the Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa? Brahmājī collected the water emanating from the nails of His feet in order to award it to Lord Śiva as a worshipful welcome. This very water [the Ganges] is purifying the whole universe, including Lord Śiva. ॥ 1-18-21 ॥

भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण के अतिरिक्त भला ऐसा कौन है, जो परमेश्वर कहलाने के योग्य हो? ब्रह्माजी ने उनके पाँव के नाखूनों से निकलनेवाले जल को भगवान् शिवजी को मस्तक पर ग्रहण करने के निमित्त एकत्र किया। यही जल (गंगानदी) शिवजी समेत सारे ब्रह्माण्ड को शुद्ध बना रहा है। ॥ १-१८-२१ ॥
