यथा गावो नसि प्रोतास्तन्त्यां बद्धाश्च दामभिः । वाक्तन्त्यां नामभिर्बद्धा वहन्ति बलिमीशितुः ॥ १-१३-४१ ॥
As a cow, bound through the nose by a long rope, is conditioned, so also human beings are bound by different Vedic injunctions and are conditioned to obey the orders of the Supreme. ॥ 1-13-41 ॥

जिस प्रकार बैल एक लम्बी रस्सी से नाक से नत्थी होकर बंधन में रहता है, उसी तरह मनुष्य जाति विभिन्न वैदिक आदेशों से बँध कर परमेश्वर के आदेशों का पालन करने के लिए बद्ध है। ॥ १-१३-४१ ॥
