सत्सङ्गान्मुक्तदुःसङ्गो हातुं नोत्सहते बुधः । कीर्त्यमानं यशो यस्य सकृदाकर्ण्य रोचनम् ।। १-१०-११ ।।
The intelligent, who have understood the Supreme Lord in association with pure devotees and have become freed from bad materialistic association, can never avoid hearing the glories of the Lord, even though they have heard them only once. How then could the Pāṇḍavas tolerate His separation, for they had been intimately associated with His person, seeing Him face to face, touching Him, conversing with Him, and sleeping, sitting and dining with Him? ।। 1-10-(11-12) ।।

वह बुद्धिमान जिस ने शुद्ध भक्तों की संगति से परमेश्वर को समझ लिया है और भौतिक कुसंगति से अपने को छुड़ा लिया है, वह भगवान् के यश को सुनने से चूकेगा नहीं; उसने चाहे उनके विषय में एक ही बार क्यों न सुना हो। तो भला, पाण्डव उनके वियोग को कैसे सह पाते? क्योंकि वे उनसे घनिष्ठतापूर्वक सम्बन्धित थे, वे उन्हें साक्षात् अपने समक्ष देखते थे, उनका स्पर्श करते थे, उनसे बातें करते थे और उन्हीं के पास सोते, उठते-बैठते तथा भोजन करते थे। ।। १-१०-(११-१२) ।।

All their hearts were melting for Him on the pot of attraction. They looked at Him without blinking their eyes, and they moved hither and thither in perplexity. ।। 1-10-13 ।।

उन सबके हृदय उनके आकर्षण-रूपी पात्र में द्रवित हो रहे थे। वे उन्हें अपलक नेत्रों से देख रहे थे और (स्नेह-बन्धन में बँधकर) व्यग्रता से इधर-उधर मचल रहे थे। ।। १-१०-१३ ।।

hk transliteration by Sanscriptन्यरुन्धन्नुद्गलद्बाष्पमौत्कण्ठ्याद्देवकीसुते । निर्यात्यगारान्नोऽभद्रमिति स्याद्बान्धवस्त्रियः ।। १-१०-१४ ।।
The female relatives, whose eyes were flooded with tears out of anxiety for Kṛṣṇa, came out of the palace. They could stop their tears only with great difficulty. They feared that tears would cause misfortune at the time of departure. ।। 1-10-14 ।।

सगी-सम्बन्धी (नातेदार) स्त्रियाँ, जिनके नेत्रों से कृष्ण के लिए व्याकुलतावश अश्रुधारा निकल रही थी, महल से बाहर आ गईं। वे बड़ी मुश्किल से अपने आँसू रोक पाईं। उन्हें भय था कि प्रस्थान के अवसर पर आँसुओं से अपशकुन हो सकता है। ।। १-१०-१४ ।।

hk transliteration by Sanscriptमृदङ्गशङ्खभेर्यश्च वीणापणवगोमुखाः । धुन्धुर्यानकघण्टाद्या नेदुर्दुन्दुभयस्तथा ।। १-१०-१५ ।।
While the Lord was departing from the palace of Hastināpura, different types of drums — like the mṛdaṅga, dhola, nagra, dhundhurī and dundubhi — and flutes of different types, the vīṇā, gomukha and bherī, all sounded together to show Him honor. ।। 1-10-15 ।।

हस्तिनापुर के राजमहल से भगवान् के प्रस्थान समय, उनके सम्मान में विभिन्न प्रकार के ढोल—यथा मृदंग, ढोल, नगाड़े, धुंधुरी तथा दुन्दुभी—एवं तरह-तरह की वंशियाँ, वीणा, गोमुख और भेरियाँ एकसाथ बज उठे। ।। १-१०-१५ ।।
