तदा समुद्यतौ स्यातां तस्याद्यंतं परीक्षितुम् ॥ ३६ ॥
Then they should be ready to examine the beginning and the end of it.

tadA samudyatau syAtAM tasyAdyaMtaM parIkSitum ॥ 36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतत्र हंसाकृतिर्ब्रह्मा विश्वतः पक्षसंयुतः ॥ मनोनिलजवो भूत्वा गतस्तूर्ध्वं प्रयत्नतः ॥ ३७ ॥
Brahmā took the form of a swan with wings all round and went up assiduously with the speed of the mind or wind.

tatra haMsAkRtirbrahmA vizvataH pakSasaMyutaH ॥ manonilajavo bhUtvA gatastUrdhvaM prayatnataH ॥ 37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनारायणोपि विश्वात्मा लीलाञ्जनचयोपमम् ॥ वाराहममितं रूपमस्थाय गतवानधः ॥ ३८ ॥
Viṣṇu, the Ātman of the universe, assumed the form of a Boar resembling a mass of collyrium and went downwards.

evaM varSasahasraM tu tvaran viSNuradhogataH ॥ nApazyadalpamapyasya mUlaM liMgasya sUkaraH ॥ 39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतावत्कालं गतश्चोर्ध्वं तस्यांतं ज्ञातुमिच्छया ॥ श्रांतोत्यंतमदृष्ट्वांतं पापताधः पितामहः ॥ ४० ॥
Meanwhile, Brahmā too was going up to know his top. But unable to see the end he became exhausted and fell down.
