रक्तहेमादिभिश्चूर्णैरीश्वरावाहनोचितम् ॥ सिंदूरशालिनीवारचूर्णैरेवाथ निर्धनः ॥ ६ ॥

The powder used for the mystic diagram shall be gold dust mixed with saffron so as to befit for the invocation of the lord. If the devotee is poor he can use the powdered Nīvāra grain mixed with saffron.

एकहस्तं द्विहस्तं वा सितं वा रक्तमेव वा ॥ एकहस्तस्य पद्मस्य कर्णिकाष्टांगुला मता ॥ ७ ॥

The width of the mystic lotus diagram may be one hand or two hands. It may be white or red in colour. The pericarp of the lotus of a hand’s width shall be eight aṅgulas.

ekahastaM dvihastaM vA sitaM vA raktameva vA ॥ ekahastasya padmasya karNikASTAMgulA matA ॥ 7 ॥

केसराणि तदर्धानि शेषं चाष्टदलादिकम् ॥ द्विहस्तस्य तु पद्मस्य द्विगुणं कर्णिकादिकम् ॥ ८ ॥

The filaments shall be half that length. The remaining portion is occupied by the eight petals. If the width of the lotus is two hands, the measurements will be doubled.

kesarANi tadardhAni zeSaM cASTadalAdikam ॥ dvihastasya tu padmasya dviguNaM karNikAdikam ॥ 8 ॥

कृत्वा शोभोपशोभाढ्यमैशान्यां तस्य कल्पयेत् ॥ एकहस्तं तदर्धं वा पुनर्वेद्यः तु मंडलम् ॥ ९ ॥

Another diagram shall be made on the altar one hand in width or half of it, to the north-east of the previous one and decorated well.

kRtvA zobhopazobhADhyamaizAnyAM tasya kalpayet ॥ ekahastaM tadardhaM vA punarvedyaH tu maMDalam ॥ 9 ॥

व्रीहितंदुलसिद्धार्थतिलपुष्पकुशास्तृते ॥ तत्र लक्षणसंयुक्तं शिवकुंभं प्रसाधयेत् ॥ १० ॥

Paddy or rice grains mixed with gingelly seeds and flowers shall be strewn on it and covered with Darbha grass. The water-jar with the necessary characteristics shall be placed thereon.
