Shiva Purana
रक्तहेमादिभिश्चूर्णैरीश्वरावाहनोचितम् ॥ सिंदूरशालिनीवारचूर्णैरेवाथ निर्धनः ॥ ६ ॥
The powder used for the mystic diagram shall be gold dust mixed with saffron so as to befit for the invocation of the lord. If the devotee is poor he can use the powdered Nīvāra grain mixed with saffron.

raktahemAdibhizcUrNairIzvarAvAhanocitam ॥ siMdUrazAlinIvAracUrNairevAtha nirdhanaH ॥ 6 ॥
