पुरा किल सुराः सेंद्रा विवदंतः परस्परम् ॥ असुरान्समरे जित्वा जेताहमहमित्युत ॥ ४६ ॥
After conquering the Asuras in the war formerly, the gods including Indra began to argue with one another “I am the victor, I am the victor”.
english translation
तदा महेश्वरस्तेषां मध्यतो वरवेषधृक् ॥ स्वलक्षणैर्विहीनांगः स्वयं यक्ष इवाभवत् ॥ ४७ ॥
Then lord Śiva assumed the guise of a Yakṣa and stood in their midst devoid of his characteristic features in the limbs.

स तानाह सुरानेकं तृणमादाय भूतले ॥ य एतद्विकृतं कर्तुं क्षमते स तु दैत्यजित् ॥ ४८ ॥
He set a blade of grass on the ground and told the gods, “He who can deform this grass is the conqueror of the Daityas.”
english translation
यक्षस्य वचनं श्रुत्वा वज्रपाणिः शचीपतिः ॥ किंचित्क्रुद्धो विहस्यैनं तृणमादातुमुद्यतः ॥ ४९ ॥
On hearing the words of the Yakṣa, the thunderbolt-bearing consort of Śacī became infuriated. Smiling a little he attempted to take up the grass.

न तत्तृणमुपदातुं मनसापि च शक्यते ॥ यथा तथापि तच्छेत्तुं वज्रं वज्रधरो ऽसृजत् ॥ ५० ॥
When he could not lift it up he hurled his thunderbolt at it in order to cut it.
