चतुर्मुखस्तु ब्रह्मत्वे कालत्वे चांतकस्स्मृतः ॥ सहस्रमूर्धा पुरुषस्तिस्रोवस्थास्स्वयंभुवः ॥ २६ ॥
He is four-faced as creator; as destroyer he is Kāla and as Puruṣa he has thousand heads. The self-born has thus three states.
english translation
caturmukhastu brahmatve kAlatve cAMtakassmRtaH ॥ sahasramUrdhA puruSastisrovasthAssvayaMbhuvaH ॥ 26 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसत्त्वं रजश्च ब्रह्मा च कालत्वे च तमो रजः ॥ विष्णुत्वे केवलं सत्त्वं गुणवृद्धिस्त्रिधा विभौ ॥ २७ ॥
As Brahmā he has Sattva and Rajas, as Kāla Tamas and Rajas, as Viṣṇu he has Sattva alone. Thus the increase of Guṇas in the lord is threefold.
english translation
sattvaM rajazca brahmA ca kAlatve ca tamo rajaH ॥ viSNutve kevalaM sattvaM guNavRddhistridhA vibhau ॥ 27 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptब्रह्मत्वे सृजते लोकान् कालत्वे संक्षिपत्यपि ॥ पुरुषत्वे ऽत्युदासीनः कर्म च त्रिविधं विभोः ॥ २८ ॥
As Brahmā he creates the worlds, as Kāla he condenses; as Puruṣa he sustains; he is indifferent. Thus the activity of the lord is threefold.
english translation
brahmatve sRjate lokAn kAlatve saMkSipatyapi ॥ puruSatve 'tyudAsInaH karma ca trividhaM vibhoH ॥ 28 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवं त्रिधा विभिन्नत्वाद्ब्रह्मा त्रिगुण उच्यते ॥ चतुर्धा प्रविभक्तत्वाच्चातुर्व्यूहः प्रकीर्तितः ॥ २९ ॥
Since he is divided into three he is called Triguṇa. Since he has split himself into four he is glorified as Caturvyūha.
english translation
evaM tridhA vibhinnatvAdbrahmA triguNa ucyate ॥ caturdhA pravibhaktatvAccAturvyUhaH prakIrtitaH ॥ 29 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआदित्वादादिदेवो ऽसावजातत्वादजः स्मृतः ॥ पाति यस्मात्प्रजाः सर्वाः प्रजापतिरिति स्मृतः ॥ ३० ॥
Since he is the beginning he is called Ādideva; since he is unborn he is called Aja; since he protects the subjects he is called Prajāpati.
english translation
AditvAdAdidevo 'sAvajAtatvAdajaH smRtaH ॥ pAti yasmAtprajAH sarvAH prajApatiriti smRtaH ॥ 30 ॥
