गणानां लोकपालानां द्वन्द्वयुद्धं भयावहम् ॥ अभवत्तत्र तुमुलं गर्जतां सिंहनादतः ॥६॥

A noisy terrible fight ensued between the Gaṇas and the guardians of the quarters, both roaring like lions.

नन्दिना युयुधे शक्रोऽनलो वै वैष्णवास्तथा॥ कुबेरोपि हि कूष्माण्डपतिश्च युयुधे बली ॥ ७ ॥

Indra fought with Nandin; the fire-god with Aśman and the powerful Kubera fought with Kūṣmāṇḍapati.

nandinA yuyudhe zakro'nalo vai vaiSNavAstathA॥ kuberopi hi kUSmANDapatizca yuyudhe balI ॥ 7 ॥

तदेन्द्रेण हतो नन्दी वज्रेण शतपर्वणा ॥ ८ ॥

Then Nandī was struck down by Indra with the Vajra (thunderbolt) having a hundred edges.

And Indra was struck by Nandī with a trident in the middle of the chest.

बलिनौ द्वावपि प्रीत्या युयुधाते परस्परम् ॥ नानाघातांश्च कुर्वंतौ नन्दिशक्रौ जिगीषया ॥ 2-2-37-१० ॥

Nandin and Indra both equally powerful fought with each other gleefully, and hit each other in diverse ways with a desire to overpower each other.
